Road maintenance
The Shire maintains the streets in the towns of Marble Bar, Nullagine and Newman. The Main Roads Department looks after the Marble Bar Road and the Great Northern Highway. The Shire is responsible for all other roads except private roads and some tracks.
The Shire maintains some 3,200kms of unsealed roads and each road is graded at least once a year, depending on weather conditions. The Shire also maintains signs and footpaths, car parks, crossovers, kerbing, traffic signs and the watering of street trees.
