Marble Bar Race Weekend
Marble Bar races is an iconic event on the Pilbara calendar. The races have been held annually each July since 1893 and draws race goers from all over Australia.
The surrounding landscape provides breathtaking scenery and with a slight elevation directly ajacent the finish line, both the Member's Area and Public Area of the track command faboulous vantage points.
The Marble Bar Races is more than an event. With the Race Ball held the evening prior, the Marble Bar race weekend can be more likened to a festival.
Marble Bar race weekend draws people from all over Australia yet the flavour of the weekend is not lost to city trends. Outback hospitality is in abundance and reigns supreme.
The race ball is a social calendar must for residents of the district and the evening usually has a themed dress code. The ball is held in the Shire of East Pilbara Civic Centre and is walking distance from anywhere in Marble Bar.
Many attendees stay for the entire weekend as there are usually organised activities for the kids at the racetrack on the Sunday after raceday.
There is a caravan park at Marble Bar with all the expected amenity facilities. The caravan park is an extreemely popular place to stay and is always fully booked on the Marble Bar race weekend. Avoid disappointment by booking early. The Iron Clad Hotel also has a number of rooms available and provides an outdoor dining area.
2015 saw a shuttle service run at regular intervals throughout race day from Marble Bar to the track.
