Hip Hop Nullagine and Marble Bar
An exiting interactive dance and music event is being held in Nullagine and Marble Bar for students in Primary School.
Run by the Shire of East Pilbara and the Indigenous Outreach Project, (IOP) the focus will be on Hip Hop and a community concert will be held along with a video made to highlight the kids who have got the moves.
Students will learn hip hop techniques in all day workshops conducted by members of the IOP with a free lunch provided and in Nullagine a beats and basketball component in the Rage Cage. Parents and families are also invited to attend this free event and watch the kids perform on stage.
IOP is an organisation that travels across Australia and promotes strong mind, body, spirit and cultural events for indigenous children, working in remote communities and bringing health awareness with a positive light.
In Nullagine the workshops will be conducted on Monday and Tuesday April 28-29 and in Marble Bar on Wednesday, April 30.
Shire President Anthony Middleton said the IOP Hip Hop workshops promise to be an exciting interactive fun event for students who will learn dance moves and enjoy performing for their family members and teachers.
“Everyone is welcome in this celebration of culture and community in a safe and secure environment,” Cr Middleton said.
“It promises to be one of the highlights of the school term this year. I congratulate our staff on bringing this opportunity to fruition.”
The project has been funded by the Shire of East Pilbara, Consolidated Minerals and HanRoy – Hancock Prospecting.
