The Shire of East Pilbara is reviewing Local Planning Scheme No.4, which sets out development controls, including the zoning of land, control of land uses, the scale of development and other requirements that apply to new buildings in the Shire.
The review will ensure the Shire has an up-to-date planning framework to support good planning outcomes, into the future.
The new Local Planning Scheme intends to:
- Foster attractive and active town centres.
- Encourage commercial, industrial and business development to maximise economic and employment opportunities within the Shire.
- Encourage sustainable development in rural, pastoral and rangeland areas of the Shire.
- Support housing choice in townsites and identify areas for infrastructure development.
- Support the conservation of natural resources including land, waterways, flora and fauna.
