This week the Shire of East Pilbara is hosting the Regional Capitals Alliance Western Australia (RCAWA), this group is comprised of CEOs and Presidents/Mayors from local government areas across Regional WA, including representatives from:
- City of Albany
- Shire of Broome
- City of Bunbury
- City of Busselton
- City of Karratha
- Shire of Northam
- Town of Port Hedland
The RCAWA advocates for strategic investment, infrastructure, and policies that support regional growth and sustainability – and their visit to our region is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Shire of East Pilbara’s key achievements, ongoing projects, and exciting future plans.
Our visitors arrived in Newman today, Wednesday 2 April 2025 with a Mine Tour kicking off the visit this afternoon, as part of the visit delegates will be taken on a tour of Newman to view key infrastructure projects including:
- Martumili
- Lee Lane Project
- Shade Sails
- Newman Aquatic Centre
- Newman House
- Waste Water Treatment Plant
- Newman Waste Site (including solar plant & liquid ponds)
- Yurlu Caravan Park
- Capricorn Oval Precinct
- Airport Precinct
- Newman Recreation Centre
- Newman Depot
This is a great opportunity for us to showcase part of our region and highlight some of our current and future project sites.
