Request for Public Comment – Proposed Dedication of Road

3 December 2024

Dedication of Corunna Downs Road and Marble Bar Town Bypass Road under s56 of the Land Administration Act 1997 (LAA) & Section 24KA of the Native Title Act 1993 (NTA)

Notice is hereby given pursuant to section 56 of the Land Administration Act 1997 (LAA) and in association with section 24KA of the Native Title Act 1993 (NTA) of the Shire of East Pilbara’s Intention to seek the dedication of Corunna Downs Road and Marble Bar Town Bypass Road.

A Dedication process – as applied to a public road, is the setting apart or registration of a portion of land for a public road, including road widening.

The purpose of the dedication of Corunna Downs Road and Marble Bar Town Bypass Road is to formally gazette the Corunna Downs Road and Marble Bar Town Bypass Road as a Local Government Road. This dedication will enable the Shire of East Pilbara to enter into and legally issue a road maintenance agreement with Atlas Iron.

As such, the establishment of a road maintenance agreement between the Shire of East Pilbara and Atlas Iron for Corunna Downs Road and Marble Bar Town Bypass Road will allow Atlas Iron to undertake remedial and maintenance works on the damaged section of the road. The Corunna Downs Road and Marble Bar Town Bypass Road support the Sanjiv Ridge mining operations and general access for public traffic.

The Shire of East Pilbara is calling for public comment on the road dedication and submissions must be received by no later than Friday 17 January 2025.

Please forward written submission to the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of East Pilbara – PMB 22, Newman, WA, 6753 or email to [email protected]
